MATILDA KIDS
We have a fantastic range of kids books in the bookshop - catch up on all the action here!
STORY TIME
Children are welcome to gather on the mat in our cosy shop to listen to three stories read by bookseller Kasey at 10am each Monday.
Reading a book is one of the loveliest ways to spend time by yourself, but reading together is a joy shared! We look forward to seeing you there.
A BOOK WE LOVE
The Dark Times (#3 Lightfall) by Tim Probert
Our two favourite adventurers have returned! Fretful Bea and the indomitably proactive Cad are facing a new conundrum... 🤔
The very last of the lights has gone out, leaving the whole land of Irpa encased in darkness. The bright light of Cad's soul appears to have dimmed somewhat too 😔 Cad and Bea have always supported each other's weaknesses, so how is Bea to navigate this strange new terrain without her dear companion's natural radiance acting as a buoy? This time Bea will need to dig deep to be the strength that Cad needs! 💪
This series just keeps getting better! 😍 I love the new, deeper colour palette 🎨 used in this edition. Truly, it feels like the reader is exploring the dark, foreign world along with our heroes.
Another triumph!

Meet Rosie
Our brilliant new convenor of Tremendous Teens, Rosie loves picking books that will challenge, thrill and excite. Rosie studies at uni, works in fashion and listens to Taylor Swift.
Favourite Book of All Time: The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I even chose to study it at school and I still somehow love it.
Favourite Literary Character: Marianne from Normal People or Harold from A Little Life - I can’t choose!
Favourite Food: Either pho or sushi! I went to Vietnam when I was younger and had pho for breakfast two weeks straight.
A Little Fun Fact: I read the Harry Potter books so much when I was younger that the cover has fallen off on each and every one.
TREMENDOUS TEENS BOOK CLUB
Birdy by Sharon Kernot
The group as a whole enjoyed the book and many said it was their first verse novel they had liked! We were all particularly interested in the history of Maralinga - many of us having never heard of it despite it having happened in our own state. We particularly loved Maddy and Levi’s friendship and how it helped Maddy come out of her shell. We would definitely recommend this novel for anyone looking for an introduction into reading in verse!

MAGICAL MINDS BOOK CLUB
Andromache Between Worlds by Gabriel Bergmoser
Parallel universes certainly have been a theme in middle years fiction lately, and this month’s bookclub book brought parallel universes to us in spades!
We loved exploring different worlds with Andromache and contemplating where we might like her to visit next, and which world we would want to visit as well. Many of us really loved Andromache’s best friend Rylee, we appreciated her sassiness, rebelliousness and support of Andromache. Overall, we really enjoyed this world-bending extravaganza!
